Senior Hampstead: Half Term Round-Up
The half term from Easter to the June examination season always entails a varied mix of exam prep and outdoor activities. This year the looming normality of exam season is welcome relief to the challenges of the last two years – we’ve never been so glad to see the return of routine.
Venturing outside of school, our Year 10 GCSE geographers spent time studying river systems in North Wales, completing project work which contributes to their GCSE coursework. Our equally adventurous Duke of Edinburgh Bronze explorers ventured to the Chilterns for their practice expedition; and we had plenty of outdoor sporting success in Rounders and Tennis against local competition; plus, podium positions in multiple events at the ISA Athletics competition.
Back on home ground, our allotment team have been busy outdoors in the sustainability garden, harvesting our very own homegrown produce for the lunchtime salad bar.
Whatever the subject, the creativity of our students never ceases to amaze us. The results from the latest LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Arts) exams came through earlier in the term. NBH Senior Hampstead students achieved a clean sweep of Distinctions – testament to both the teaching and performing talent at our school. Our students’ entries for the ‘Treehouses at Kew’ Design Competition are challenging the impact of play spaces on children’s learning and imagination – impressive stuff. And Year 8 have been getting very creative in their Food Prep & Nutrition exam practical, producing mouth-watering submissions which are so healthy.
Now we settle into exam routine and look forward to the triumph of finishing exams and all the celebrations that follow. Our pupils are well-prepared for this moment – now it is their time to shine!
