North Bridge House Senior Hampstead’s class of 2023 celebrated outstanding GCSE results, with an overall 44% of grades awarded at 7 and above – compared to 22% nationally – and over a quarter of grades awarded at an 8 or above.

 

Despite a fall in top GCSE grades in England this year, students continued to achieve impressive grades across a broad range of subjects, with notable success in the sciences: 41% of students achieved an 8 or 9 in Chemistry, 57% achieved 7-9 in Biology and 60% achieved 7-9 in Physics. Across the school’s top ten performing students, every STEM grade achieved was an 8 or 9. 

 

Students also celebrated top grade success in modern foreign languages, with 40% of those taking German achieving a 9 and 35% of French students achieving this A* equivalent, too. 

 

High grades continued across the creative subjects: 100% of Textiles students achieved an 8 or 9, and 77% of Photography grades were a 7 or above. Both 3D Design and Art also saw over half of students achieve grades 7-9.

 

Top performing student Kira Tenthorey Vinuesa will be attending Marylebone Sixth Form, having achieved an incredible ten grade 9s across English Language, English Literature, Maths, Geography, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Food Preparation and Nutrition, French, and Spanish, plus an A in Further Maths. 

 

Fellow North Bridge House student Xavier Lewis also celebrated impressive grades, gaining 9s in seven of his subjects and 8s in another two. 

 

88% of the overall grades awarded across the cohort, including English and Maths, were at a 5 or above.

“At NBH we have worked incredibly hard to help the Class of 2023 navigate the challenges of the last few years and secure the best possible GCSE results along with the skills they need to guide themselves on their future pathways.

 

Though they have had a different educational journey than their predecessors, our students continue to impress us with their remarkable resilience and achievements.

 

As an academically non-selective school, we are immensely proud to see so many top grades as well as a class average of 6.25. Besides the headlines, there are so many individual journeys for which simple numbers can not convey the rapid progress made from starting points. Above all, I am proud of the Class of 2023’s discipline and attitude to learning. Beyond their hard-earned qualifications, their commitment to simply getting on with the challenge in hand will serve them well in their successful futures.”
