Welcome to the Nest at Regent’s Park Prep
The Nest is home to our Early Years and Key Stage 1 children (ages 4-7) and provides a beautifully dedicated space for our staff to deliver an incredible start to school life.
From Reception (age 4), we take children way beyond the Early Years Foundation Stage framework and national curriculum, sparking excitement, curiosity and creativity across a broad range of subjects and activities. Children benefit from specialist teaching in Art, Drama, French, Music and Sport, whilst their very own rooftop garden and trips to Forest School provide a wealth of outdoor learning opportunities.
A truly memorable beginning to their school years
A Holistic Education
At its core, our Early Years (Reception) curriculum is focused on the direct teaching of reading, writing and mathematics, embedding key vocabulary, listening comprehension, spoken language and problem-solving skills into all aspects of children’s work. Children are fully immersed in a much wider learning experience however, with teaching and learning centred around a specific topic each half term. This topic runs throughout all areas of study, enabling us to take a fully holistic approach to the children’s academic and personal development.
The Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) curriculum delves into a greater range of discrete disciplines, with a significant focus on depth of understanding and application of knowledge, to prepare children for the transition to Key Stage 2 (at age 7).
Throughout a child’s time in the Nest, their progress and development are continually tracked in line with the progression to Key Stage 2, so that our early learners are fully equipped to access the increasingly broad and knowledge-rich curriculum model from Year 3 upwards.
