Welcome to Key Stage 2 at Regent’s Park Prep
From Years 3 to 6 (ages 7-11), our passionate teachers deliver a wide-ranging academic and Extra-curricular experience, providing the breadth of opportunity expected from a leading preparatory school whilst nurturing each and every child as an individual.
The ‘knowledge-rich’ KS2 curriculum model is innovatively designed to prepare pupils for entry to a range of renowned senior school destinations, depending on the pathway best suited to their individual strengths and interests. Students pursuing 13+ senior school entry continue with us into the Upper School at NBH Regent’s Park Prep, whilst those leaving us at 11+ progress to some of the most prestigious senior schools in the country, often with scholarship awards.
Nurturing every child as an individual
We redefine the KS2 curriculum
Through our knowledge-rich curriculum model, we teach content to be remembered, not just encountered. We redefine the teaching and learning of KS2 humanities by treating Geography and History as discrete subjects (rather than typically combined topics), but beyond this, we provide students with the opportunity to develop their general knowledge and understanding into a deep, cross-curricular appreciation of advanced theories.
As pupils progress from Years 3-4 into Years 5-6, the curriculum spans everything from Mandarin to Design & Technology and is delivered entirely by subject specialists. An additional General Studies course broadens pupils’ cultural, political and global awareness, with modules including Art History, Film Studies, and Politics, Philosophy and Economics.
As reported by the ISI, our students' curiosity for knowledge and love of learning is encouraged by the breadth and depth of linguistic study, the excellent level of musicality and instrumental lessons, the many opportunities to enter and succeed in prestigious competitions such as the Global UKMT Challenge, and the integration of creative competencies such as 3D printing.
Pupils also benefit from having their own school devices, so that they can benefit from the very best EdTech to enhance teaching and learning across the curriculum.
