An independent senior school and sixth form for boys and girls aged 11 to 18
At NBH Canonbury Senior School and Sixth Form, we create a dynamic learning environment in which all children, regardless of where their strengths may lie, can discover their individual path to academic success.
Our students achieve outcomes way beyond starting point expectations, thriving on our personalised approach to teaching and learning within our close-knit community. Surrounded by and built on centuries-old heritage in leafy Canonbury Square, Islington, our school provides the ultimate backdrop against which young people find their passions, prepared to pursue their talents at university and in the world of work.

Encouraging Ambition with Care
Our academic offering is designed to help every student find their own individual success – their area of excellence – and what success looks like for them.
We place each child’s needs and interests at the heart of school life; our teachers are committed to understanding the individual and how they learn more effectively.
Success is driven by close relationships, small class sizes, and a deeply supportive, personalised environment.

Our North London Location
Set in a unique Tudor building that is over 500 years old, NBH Canonbury is an inspiring learning environment with quaint classrooms and beautiful gardens.
Students regularly venture into the local community, including the neighbouring Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art, Upper Street, Highbury Fields and Sobell Centre, and slightly further afield like Regent’s Park and Hampstead Heath.
The school is only a 6-to-8-minute walk through leafy streets from Highbury and Islington Station, with quick access into Central London for exhibitions, talks, and trips.
Amazing Creative & Performing Arts
The creative and performing arts are highly successful at NBH Canonbury, supporting many individual and varied interests.
Art, drama, and music are all offered to appeal to and uncover different talents, which makes for an incredibly rich and vibrant portfolio of student work.
Students are taught by staff who are a unique combination of experienced educators and true artists.

Excellence in STEM Education
STEM subjects at NBH Canonbury offer a challenging and enriching academic experience. In the lower years, children are encouraged to question, explore and problem-solve creatively.
Practical investigation is led by subject-specialist teaching in fully equipped onsite laboratories. In the upper years and Sixth Form, students interested in a future in STEM also benefit from tutor and alumni mentoring and tailored UCAS and Oxbridge support specific to STEM programmes.

Alex, who earned eight grade 9s and two grade 8s, will be continuing his Sixth Form journey at Highgate this Autumn.
Alex said his favourite subject at NBH Canonbury was Computer Science because of the project based learning and being able to apply concepts in the classroom 🧑💻
Freya was quite happy with her results and is excited to be continuing at NBH Canonbury Sixth Form to study English Literature, Art, Psychology and Biology.
Freya was an active member of the Year 11 band as guitarist and vocalist, and gave a great performance in our Battle of the Bands in benefit of @rosebowl_hub.
Daniel was elated with his seven 9s and three 8s. Amazing job, Daniel! 👏
He said he is most proud of his English Literature and Maths grades as those were not only some of his highest, but English Literature was a subject where he historically struggled and worked hard to improve through GCSEs.
We wish all our Year 11s the best of luck on their next adventures 🍀

✨ A fitting finale to an unforgettable chapter ✨
Our Year 11 and Year 13 students celebrated Prom in true Hollywood style. The evening began with canapés and drinks in the garden, giving friends (and family) the chance to reflect on the memories they’ve made before stepping into a spectacular Night in Hollywood in the King Edward Hall 🎬
From the glamour of the red carpet to the laughter, dancing and celebrations, it was a wonderful way to mark the end of an important journey.
We’re so proud of our Year 11 and 13 cohorts and can’t wait to see where your next chapter takes you - whether that’s two more years at NBHC, university life, or beyond! 💙
